CHRISTOPHER PILLITZ – ATTENTIVE PHOTORPORTER AND MASTER OF THE STAY PHOTO
Argentine Christopher Pillitz (Christopher Pillitz) is considered one of the best documentary photographers and publicists of our time. He was born in 1958 in the capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires. At the age of twenty went to the UK. The London rhythm of life quickly captivated the young man. True, at that moment he did not plan to seriously link his life with photography, but concentrated on the hotel and restaurant business.
In the period from 1978 to 1982. Christopher Pillitz worked as an intern in leading hotels and restaurants in London, but gradually came to the conclusion that such a career was not for him. The soul of the young Argentine more inclined to photo art.
In early 1983, Christopher Pilitz tried to become an assistant in one photo studio, but he could not find a suitable job. Persistent young man did not upset such a situation – on the contrary, he managed to turn it around for the benefit of himself. Christopher Pillitz decided to become a traveling photographer, and subsequently spent many years in various trips. From 1983-1990, Christopher Pillitz visited many countries, collecting an extensive portfolio of unusual photographs that quickly became known.
At various times, the photographer has successfully collaborated with various eminent publications, including the New York Times, The Telegraph and others. The world famous magazines (GEO, TIME, LIFE) have repeatedly published on their pages original works of Christopher Pillitz, thanks to which his name has become well recognized in the field of journalism and documentary photography.
Another area of activity of Christopher Pillitz, which brought him not only fame, but also a good income – the creation of photos for advertising. He has collaborated with many famous brands – from Philipp Morris to Syngenta, from Polaroid to Bulmers.
One of the most ambitious projects of the photographer – “The Incarnation of Brazil”. Christopher Pillitz spent over five years working on it. The photographer published his best photos in a monograph, which became world-famous and was reprinted several times.
This project maximally revealed the features of the Brazilian mentality, body culture, looseness and sexuality. Bright, juicy images for a long time catch the eye, reflecting the unique flavor of one of the largest countries in South America.
Another world-famous series of works by Christopher Pillitz is a photo project called The Last Tango. The photographer posed for Barbara Bertone (famous ballerina) and dancer Oscar Velasquez. For maximum atmosphere in the frame now and then appeared a luxury car Alfa Romeo, released in 1948.
Graphic black and white pictures perfectly reflect the passion and seething emotions that always accompany the execution of this Argentine tango. Christopher Pillitz visited more than eighty countries, shot reportage photos of various subjects. Since 1990, many exhibitions of photographer’s works have taken place around the world, including in Great Britain, France, Italy, Poland and other countries.
Currently, Christopher Pilitz lives in the UK and continues to be active in the field of photography.
